INTRO: The market is full of RETRO design inspired by great cars of the past: T-BIRD, PT Cruiser,Viper, VW beetle, HHR, Ford GT 40, Prowler, BMW Z8, Boxter, Crossfire, and many more. One great roadster is still missing from the pack: the " BIG HEALEY" of the 60's.
FEATURES: CRD has developed a spectacular replica of the 1967 3000 Mk III (BJ8), (the last produced Big Healey). Many consider this model to be the all time best. We have taken the time to mantain all the critical and essential lines that makes it special: side body panel, window sill, curved glass windshield, gas fill boss, double turn signal in front, plus we added some new ones such as flared fenders, side vents, hood and trunk lid vein, and more.
CHASSIS: The frame is made of 2x4, 2x6 and 2x2 structural tubing. Wall thickness is 0.120" to 0.160". Floor is 10ga. plate. Design is simple and effective. It is built and welded on a steel jig table. All pieces are marked and located on jig. It is purposely overbuilt and it garantees no flex or twist. Estimated rating to 1,100 HP.
ENGINE: Frame is set up for 1955-1992 small block Chevy V8. Needless to say it is by far the most dependable engine ever produced. We always use a brand new crate motor purchased directly from GM. It comes with warranty and in a large choice of horsepower. We offer a 260, 300, 330 and a 425 horsepower engine and never had any problems.
TRANNY: Again GM trannies are used as TH 350 3-speed auto, TH 200-4R 4-speed auto, a B&W T5, 5-speed manual with hydraulic clutch and our exclusive 4-speed manual ratchet shifter with NO CLUTCH PEDAL. This is by far our best seller. It is our exclusive design with patent pending and it will be available with the business package.
BODY: The main mold receives the body skin, all hand laid, using polyester resin and 1.5 oz. cloth 4 criss crossed layers over a generous amaount of black gel-coat. All the other parts are layed seperately and then installed in the main mold using a steel locating jig that garantees consistency of location. Everything is then glassed together forming a tight unit-body with no chance of movement. The main mold is mounted on adjustable rolling and rotating stands (rotisserie). This makes it very easy to handle but also to get the right angle for laying glass.
DOORS: The doors have always been a major detail in custom cars. Everyone looking at one will always go to the doors. To obtain the best fit we produced 2 door fixtures on stands in order to facilitate the pre-assembly. You simply set the door skin, then the inner box, align and lock together. When you go to the body you'll find the same alignment.
ASSEMBLY: Once the frame is ready with wheels front and rear ends, engine, tranny, fuel and brake system, you are ready to install the body. Simply pick it up (4 people or hoist) and set it down on the chassis. It just goes where it belongs without much adjusting to be done. All this is not by mistake and is exactly why this production is easy.
WIRING: This area is the deviding factor between the good cars and the not-so-good ones. We have an electrical assembly table where the harness is set up and marked for a trouble free installation. All components are new from a known GM manufacturer. All wires are labeled every 8 inches and all the connectors and terminals are proven GM 56. They work, they stay together and require no repairs. We also use OPTIMA gel batteries, they don't leak or corrode (in trunk) and they don't blow up.
FINISH: This roadster has been designed to be painted after general assembly. When the body is still in the mold we spray all the underside with truck bed coating. This gives it a clean uniform look. The mold is so good that it takes one man only 8 hrs to prep the body. First color coat is applied now. After total assembly you can drive the car to a paint shop and with simple removal of chrome you get the final coat, you're done.
NOTES: We suggest having 3 finished cars in a showroom and perhaps a finished frame. We also strongly advise having an unrestored original Healey next to them. This will no doubt have a tremendous impact on those purists who do not quite understand what makes cars good. One car tells people "oh what a nice job you did" Two cars tells them "oh you built one for your wife " Three cars tells 'em " this must be a business". The presence of an original will make people see the stunning difference and favor the replica. You'll see.
CONCLUSION: With no competition on the market this roadster is a sure winner. From a 2-men operation to a large scale business success and profit are at reach. Final details and numbers will be disclosed only to the interested party. Contact us for a full disclosure of the business plan. Good luck. cbc
